Once Upon a time, the ports of Beirut were host to bustling farmers’ markets. With vendors hawking products from East Mediterranean cumin, Brazilian goji berries, French Herbes de Provences, Mexican cayenne peppers to Egyptian thyme; they were a reliable source of fresh, seasonal produce from around the world.

Bar Du Port, concept by AddMind Group, takes inspiration from this port-market experience to offer a new kind of fine dining in Lebanon’s hip, up-and-coming Saifi district.

I was ecstatic at the surprise of finding Bar du Port replacing People in Faqra Club. Little did I know I was in for a nasty experience. After arriving I wanted to sit outside however all tables were for 6 or more and the two seaters were equipped with stakes (high chairs) that the most enduring Fakirs can't tolerate for more than a minute. I decided to sit inside at the innocent thought that it would be warmer anyway. We changed 3 tables before finding a windless chilly spot. No one bothered to light the chimney that was a central nice feature. We ordered two soups that arrive between cold and lukewarm, we sent them back along with the dirty spoons we recieved. Even after sitting through the whole ordeal, no one bothered to remove the extra cover plates from our table. We carried on after eating our soups that resembled nothing of the sort. The Tartiflette was undercooked with the diced potatoes still cold. We ordered a glass of Rosee wine that arrived warm. We sent it back for a colder one that we naively expected. Foiled again. The main course was tasteless and textureless. All in all a disaster and a big disappointment. We left before subjecting ourselves to the dessert. A wise choice I presume. The waiters were nice but inexperienced. A far cry from the excellent Bar du Port near the Beirut Harbor. I leave you to try it and make your own judgment.

I had a reservation in the restaurant area and it was a Very bad experience, the host was super rude and has no experience in welcoming guests or talking to them, service almost 0, we ordered food and it was ready to serve after 2 mins with an excuse : (sorry l chef 3ena ktyr sari3) with a poulet dish heated in the microwave maybe?! The manager did it all at the end and took care, but overall v.bad experience!Dommage !!not to mention valet parking’s issue...

They have a beautiful variety of delicious food. Try their ceviche, truffle potatoe , fresh crab salad on Granny Smith apple slices. , shrimp melanzane , and the goat cheese with caramélized Onions...(so yummy) Their thin crust avocado pizza is different but wasn’t my favorite:) The music is very cool and the service is just perfect ! And yes it’s overrated but what we pick was worth paying for.

Original review: 1 star. Valet parker damaged my car and Bar du Port manager made empty promises for rectification. Updated review: Manager contacted me and we sorted it out.
